Lightning Discharge

Lightning is a visible electrical discharge produced by a thunderstorm from one cloud to another or from cloud to ground. Lightning annually kills more people in the US than do tornadoes. While lightning is a discharge of a large amount of electrical power, it is not the focus of this site. However, lightning is very interesting.

The Lightning Safety Institute is at http://www.lightningsafety.com/

For great lightning videos try http://www.stormstock.com/

The Lightning on Demand page is really about electrical discharges such as Jacobís Ladders, Tesla Coils, Lorentz Guns, etc, but they have some great photographs at http://www.lod.org/
